Chocolate Banana Pops
The perfect snack. A delightful dessert. A quick recipe. What more could you ask for?
This is the easiest recipe on my website. It requires two ingredients. Bananas and your chocolate of choice. You can also add some toppings like sprinkles, cocao nibs, freeze dried fruit, etc. But it’s really the easiest and most low maintenance recipe and snack creation.
Begin by cutting bananas in half (as many as you want to make). Using popsicle sticks or I used paper straws, skewer the banana halves so they look like banana popsicles. Freeze for at least 4 hours.
Melt your chocolate of choice —I used 72% dark bittersweet chocolate— in the microwave at 30 second intervals or in a double broiler.** Line a plate with parchment paper and have your toppings nearby. Remove bananas from freezer and dip one at a time in the chocolate, using a spoon to help cover the banana completely if necessary. Place banana on parchment paper and immediately add toppings, the chocolate hardens very quickly. Repeat the process for each banana half.
Enjoy immediately or store in a tupperware in the freezer.
These make for a delightful snack and kids love them. This is also a great recipe to make with kiddos, have them help with the dipping or be on sprinkle duty!
**For a make shift double broiler, add about an inch or so of water to a medium sauce pan. Bring to boil. Top the pan with a heat proof bowl (stainless steel or pyrex). Reduce heat to low. Add chocolate to bowl and stir until melted. Once melted turn off the heat, keeping the bowl over the saucepan.
